Netflix has unveiled the gripping trailer for Operation Safed Sagar, an ambitious military drama inspired by the Indian Air Force’s historic role during the 1999 Kargil War. Premiering on 7 August, the series revisits one of India’s most significant military operations, highlighting the courage and sacrifices of the Golden Arrows Squadron during the world's highest air operation.
Directed by Oni Sen and created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, the series is produced by Matchbox Shots LLP and Feel Good Films. The ensemble cast includes Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi.
Rooted in extensive research and consultations with Indian Air Force veterans, Operation Safed Sagar was filmed across operational Air Force bases using real aircraft and military infrastructure, ensuring authenticity in recreating the high-altitude mission. The story follows Wing Commander B.S. Dhanoa 'Tony' and Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja as they lead a young team of fighter pilots through one of the most challenging chapters of the Kargil conflict.
Beyond the battlefield, the series also captures the emotional journeys of military families, particularly the unwavering support of Air Force spouses, adding a deeply human perspective to the conflict.
Netflix India described the project as its most ambitious production in the country, made possible with the support of the Indian Air Force. Director Oni Sen said the series is a tribute to the bravery, resilience and sacrifice of the men and women who served the nation.
Operation Safed Sagar will stream exclusively on Netflix from 7 August.
