Residents of Velappa Gounder Colony, Samiyappan Layout, under Villarasampatti Post in Erode Corporation’s 10th Ward, submitted a petition to West Constituency MLA K.K. Anand Mohan through Ward Councillor Kumaraivel of the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi, seeking immediate construction of proper underground drainage and stormwater outlets.

The petition stated that more than 50 families have been living in the area for over 15 years without adequate drainage facilities. As a result, wastewater stagnates on the streets, causing severe mosquito menace and posing serious health risks such as malaria and dengue fever.

The residents’ association, represented by President Thamarai Kannan, Secretary Ravichandran, and Treasurer Duraisingh, emphasized the urgent need to safeguard public health by establishing drainage systems on both sides of the streets. The petition, signed by over 40 residents, was formally handed over to the MLA for necessary action.
