HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company has been authorised by the Government of Tamil Nadu to implement the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for both loanee and non-loanee farmers in Ranipet and Cuddalore districts for the Kharif 2026 season. The scheme covers major crops including Paddy, Black Gram, Green Gram, Groundnut, Pigeon Pea, Pearl Millet, Sesame, Bhindi, Brinjal, Banana, Tapioca, and Turmeric, with crop-specific cut-off dates ranging from 15 July to 15 September 2026. Farmers can enrol through banks, Common Service Centres (CSCs), authorised HDFC ERGO agents, or the PMFBY Farmer Portal.

Under PMFBY, farmers receive insurance protection against crop losses caused by natural calamities such as drought, floods, cyclones, hailstorms, inundation, pests and diseases. The scheme provides coverage across the entire crop cycle, including pre-sowing, standing crop, harvesting and post-harvest stages. Claims will be determined based on Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) and technology-based yield estimates conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
