An “Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme for Commerce Students” was organized jointly by the PG and Research Department of Commerce, Sri Vasavi College, Erode, and the Coimbatore Division of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, on 21.08.2026 at the College Conference Hall.
The programme was presided over by the Principal (In-charge) Dr.K.Rajini, The Programme Coordinator Dr.N. Deepa, delivered the welcome address. The Head of the Department of Commerce, Dr. Gayathri Balakrishnan.R, offered the felicitation address.
Mr. B. Rajendran, Deputy Director, Branch MSME, DFO, Coimbatore explained the objectives of the programme and the various opportunities available for entrepreneurship development.
Mr. V. Athikesavan, Managing Director, Sowbaghya Enterprises Private Limited, Chennai, delivered a special address. He explained the opportunities for starting new businesses, the skills required for entrepreneurship, self-employment opportunities, and the procedures for establishing a successful business.
The College Secretary, CA. C. Bala Rama Prakash, highlighted the importance of developing entrepreneurial skills among students and encouraged them to acquire practical knowledge along with their academic education.
The deputy director and Junior Executive from DIC, Erode and faculty from AIC- NIFTTEA, Trippur have delivered their lectures on opportunities for starting businesses, financial assistance available from the Central and State Governments and other relevant support schemes.
The participants including Commerce students, researchers, and faculty members actively participated in the programme and benefited from the information provided about entrepreneurship opportunities and MSME-related schemes.
The programme created awareness among students about new business opportunities and self-employment possibilities, enabling them to develop entrepreneurial skills and confidence. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Saravanan Kumar.
