Excel Institutions Host Two-Day Trade Expo to Promote Student Entrepreneurship

A grand trade festival titled “EXCEL TRADE EXPO 2026” was organized jointly by the Department of Management Studies, Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) and the Department of Business Administration, Excel College for Commerce and Science on 20.08.2026 and 21.08.2026. The two-day event was conducted in a grand and successful manner.


The inaugural ceremony was held under the leadership of Dr. A. K. Natesan, Chairman, Excel Educational Institutions; Dr. N. Mathan Karthick, Vice Chairman & Dr. K. Bommanna Raja, Executive Director, Excel Educational Institutions. Dr. R. Vimal Nishant, Principal, Excel College for Commerce and Science; Dr. S. Subramaniam, Programme Head & Dr. H. Kalairasi, Prof & Head, Management Studies, graced the occasion.


 Prof. Dr. V. R. Palanivelu, Professor and Dean, Business School, in his inaugural address, he stated that the foremost aim of this expo is to foster an entrepreneurial culture, innovation, start-ups and export-oriented entrepreneurship among students of higher education institutions. He also elaborated on the supplementary state and central government policies for promoting entrepreneurship in higher education institutions. He added that this programme is in addition to the export policy for the promotion of innovative entrepreneurship.


 The programme commenced with the Welcome Address by Mr. P. Varunkumar, Head, Department of Business Administration & Social Work. The Chief Guest, Dr. V. Anbarasi, Professor and Director, Aerospace Engineers Private Limited, Salem and Hosur, addressed the students on improving their academic capabilities and preparing themselves for future opportunities in the industrial sector. She also highlighted the benefits of industry exposure, ways to develop business skills, employment opportunities, and the essential steps involved in starting an independent business, sharing valuable insights from her professional experience.


 The trade expo featured more than 100 stalls, offering a wide variety of products, including traditional Tamil attire, modern clothing, mobile phones and accessories, jewellery, household products, traditional Tamil food items, herbal food products and several other useful commodities. On the concluding day, 21.08.2026, prizes and certificates were distributed to students, commemorating the spirit of World Entrepreneurship Day. Mrs. V. Sagunthala, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Namakkal, participated as a special guest and shared valuable information on entrepreneurship with the students.


 More than 10,000 students, faculty members and administrative staff of Excel Educational Institutions enthusiastically visited the expo and purchased the products displayed at the stalls.


The event provided students with valuable practical exposure to entrepreneurship, marketing, sales, innovation and business management. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. T. Mohana, Assistant Professor of English. The Department of Management Studies, Excel Engineering College, and the Department of Business Administration made excellent arrangements and successfully coordinated the entire event.
