The Placement Training Committee of Fatima College, Madurai, organised a workshop on “Campus to Corporate” for around 500 outgoing students from various departments, equipping them with essential communication, interpersonal and professional skills to face the competitive job market with greater confidence. The programme was organised under the leadership of Principal Dr. Sr. M. Fatima Mary, who emphasised the need for students to continuously develop their employability skills in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, technological advancement and rapidly changing workplace expectations. She stressed that academic excellence must be complemented by effective communication, confidence, interpersonal skills and professional competence to meet the evolving expectations of employers.

The initiative was conceptualised and coordinated by Vincent, Placement Training Officer, Fatima College, as part of the institution’s continuing efforts to strengthen the career readiness of outgoing students and facilitate a smooth transition from the campus to the corporate environment.

The session was led by Dr. J. Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor of English, Training and Placement Officer, National College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, along with his team comprising  Divyalakshmi, Bidyut Mandal and Prasanna Vignesh.

The training focused on essential employability skills and practical aspects of the recruitment process. Students were introduced to the importance of effective communication, confidence, interpersonal skills and professional rapport, with emphasis on presenting themselves effectively in professional settings.

The training focused on Self-introduction, Group Discussion and aptitude tests, familiarising students with key stages of the recruitment process. Interactive and experiential activities enabled them to apply these skills while developing clarity of expression, confidence, teamwork, critical thinking and professional etiquette. The exercises also helped students assess their strengths and identify areas for further improvement as they prepare to enter the workplace.

The enthusiastic participation of around 500 outgoing students from various departments reflected their keen interest in strengthening their professional skills and preparing themselves for career opportunities. The training also offered students a clearer understanding of employer expectations and the competencies required to perform effectively in a professional environment.

The programme reaffirmed Fatima College’s commitment to enhancing students’ employability through focused training, practical exposure and career-oriented learning. By complementing academic preparation with professional skills development, the initiative sought to build students’ confidence and equip them to approach recruitment processes with greater awareness and preparedness.

The “Campus to Corporate” initiative thus served as a meaningful platform for outgoing students to strengthen the skills required for the next stage of their careers and make a confident transition from college to the workplace.
