Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced the successful completion of its 38th iCARE (I, Community Action to Reach Everyone) initiative under its Employee Volunteerism Program, held in observance of World Entrepreneurs’ Day. The initiative focused on strengthening livelihood opportunities for rural women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) through eco-friendly home décor craftsmanship.

Held at Basavanna Convention Hall, Manchagondanahalli, near Kengeri, Karnataka, the initiative brought together around 570 iCARE volunteers and 15 women artisans from Krishikala, a rural SHG.

To support the SHG in overcoming resource and working capital constraints, TKM handed over engraving machines and crafting tools. Volunteers also collectively crafted, polished and finished around 260 bottle gourd-based eco-friendly products, including decorative lamps, bird nests, pen holders and wall hangings.

The initiative aims to enhance Krishikala’s production capacity, diversify its product portfolio, expand into neighbouring villages and create opportunities for more women artisans to join the enterprise.

Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, TKM, said the initiative seeks to empower rural women with the resources, confidence and independence needed to pursue entrepreneurship and build sustainable livelihoods.

Since its inception in 2017, iCARE has supported communities across education, health, environment, skill development, road safety and disaster management.
