The 60th PSG Trophy All India Basketball Tournament, organised by PSG Sports Club, will be held for five days from August 26 to 30, 2026, at the International Indoor Stadium, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. The tournament has been conducted successfully for the past 59 years with the objective of promoting basketball and encouraging talented players.
Basketball has a strong following in Coimbatore district, with several men and women players from the region achieving success at the State and National levels. Many players have also secured employment opportunities in government and public sector organisations through their sporting achievements.
PSG has been conducting basketball tournaments at various levels for the past 59 years. State-level competitions for school students have been organised for the past 49 years, while competitions involving players from Coimbatore and across Tamil Nadu have been conducted over the last decade. The winning teams from these competitions qualify for the All India Tournament.
Marking the 60th edition, a women’s All India Basketball Tournament will be introduced for the first time this year. Four teams — South Central Railway, Secunderabad; South Western Railway, Hubballi; Kerala State Electricity Board, Thiruvananthapuram; and the Coimbatore District Women’s Team — will compete in the women’s category.
The men’s tournament will feature teams including Indian Bank, Tamil Nadu; Indian Air Force, Delhi; Indian Navy, Lonavala; ONGC, Delhi; Kerala State Electricity Board, Thiruvananthapuram; Hindustan University, Chennai; and Rest of Tamil Nadu.
The men’s winners will receive ₹1 lakh and the Rolling Trophy, while the runner-up will receive ₹70,000. The third and fourth-placed teams will receive ₹40,000 and ₹30,000 respectively. The Best Player Award carries ₹10,000. In the women’s category, the winners will receive ₹75,000 and the Rolling Trophy, while the runner-up will receive ₹50,000. The third and fourth-placed teams will receive ₹25,000 each. The Best Player Award carries ₹10,000. A total of ₹4.35 lakh will be distributed as tournament prize money.
Former PSG students who brought laurels to the institution through basketball will also be honoured. PSG students who have achieved success at the National level will be felicitated, with ₹6 lakh being presented as cash awards to deserving former players and students.
The tournament will be inaugurated on August 26 by Mrs. R. R. Gayathri, Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Coimbatore, in the presence of Dr. R. Rudramoorthy, President, PSG Sports Club and Director, PSG CARE.
The valedictory and prize distribution ceremony on August 30 will be led by Thiru. L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG Institutions. Hon’ble Thiru. Aadhav Arjuna, President, Basketball Federation of India, President, Tamil Nadu Basketball Association, and Minister for Public Works and Sports Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, will be the Chief Guest.
Dr. M. Manickam, Chairman, Sakthi Group of Companies, and Thiru. G. Selvaraj, Managing Director, CRI Group of Companies and President, Coimbatore District Basketball Association, will participate as Special Invitees.
All matches will be conducted exclusively during the evenings from August 26 to 30.
