MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh has welcomed and appreciated the firm statement made by Chief Minister Vijay in the Legislative Assembly, stressing that there can be no compromise under any circumstances when it comes to protecting the dignity of women and the respect of the general public.
Speaking in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said that derogatory or defamatory remarks against women and members of the public cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. He also made it clear that the law will do its duty regardless of who commits the offence.
MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh said the Chief Minister’s statement reflects the government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the dignity and rights of women.
She further stated: “The firm stand taken by the Hon’ble Chief Minister against remarks that demean women gives immense encouragement and confidence to women legislators like me. The Chief Minister’s statement in the Assembly today clearly demonstrates that the government will not compromise in protecting the dignity, safety and rights of women. Any act that insults the public, particularly women, cannot be accepted. Regardless of who commits the mistake, the law will do its duty.”
Expressing her appreciation for the Chief Minister’s firm position, MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh personally met Chief Minister Vijay and conveyed her congratulations and appreciation.
