Tiruvannamalai Adheenam head Sri Sri Karunanidhi Swamigal has expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for inaugurating completed projects and laying the foundation stones for various development initiatives worth approximately ₹13,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, including the Poonamallee–Vadapalani Chennai Metro Rail project.
In a statement, Sri Sri Karunanidhi Swamigal said that improving transport facilities, reducing travel time for the public, and promoting industrial and economic growth were essential for the state's progress. He stressed that such public welfare projects should continue to be implemented.
Call to Protect Democracy and National Unity
Referring to the protests being held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner of India, he appealed to everyone to work together to safeguard the country's democratic institutions, the dignity of the Constitution and India's sovereignty.
He said that if questions arose regarding the financial sources of organisations leading the protests, the people operating behind them, or the reasons for involving students in such demonstrations, the matters should be investigated appropriately on the basis of evidence, and the facts should be made clear to the public.
He further stated that the Central Government and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs should conduct appropriate legal investigations to determine whether foreign funding or support was being used in ways that could affect India's democratic institutions, national unity or sovereignty.
At the same time, he emphasised that the education, future and welfare of students should not be affected by political activities. Creating an environment in which young people can focus on their education and future goals is everyone's responsibility, he said.
Calling upon patriotic citizens to rise above political differences, Sri Sri Karunanidhi Swamigal urged everyone to unite in protecting the dignity of democracy, the supremacy of the Constitution, national unity and India's sovereignty.
