Integrated communication outreach programme on Nutrition month in Mayiladuthurai villages

Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Tiruchirapalli under Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry organized Integrated Communication Outreach Programme on Poshan Maah Nutrition Month at  Mannampandal, Pandarvadai villages in Mayiladuthurai on Thursday.

Field Publicity Officer Tiruchirapalli Shri K Devi Padmanabhan in his introductory speech stressed on importance of Nutrition and Health. He said that the theme for Poshan Maah this year is Suposhith Bharat meaning Nutritious India, Sakshar Bharat-Literate India and Sasakth Bharat Empowered India. He spoke about importance of having nutritious food especially leafy vegetables and easily available moringa leaves to strengthen immunity. He said that International Year of Millets is celebrated under United Nations accepting India’s suggestion. Millets are readily available in villages and this should be part of our diet to ensure nutrition and immunity.

FPA Thanjavur Shri K Ravindran welcomed the gathering. FPA Trichy Shri S Arunkumar rendered vote of thanks. 

Mayiladuthurai CDPO Krithika coordinated the programmes in both the villages with the help of ICDS workers. CDPO Spoke about importance of Poshan Maah and nutrition especially for women. She urged women to utilize Anganwadis and use government schemes. In Mannam Pandal village, Panchayat President Smt Priya, Govt Middle School HM SMt Chandra, ICDS Supervisor Smt Rani, Village Health Nurse Smt Indumathi spoke on various government schemes and health related issues. Prizes were given to mothers of healthy babies.

In afternoon session held at Pandaravadai village Panchayat President Shri Selvaraj, Village Health Nurse Smt Tenmozhi, Govt Middle School HM SMt Latha, ICDS Supervisor Smt Subbalakshmi spoke. Prizes were given to mothers of healthy babies.
