TNAU implementing Blended Learning Platform

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore conducted a one-day launching workshop on Academic Management System (AMS) and Blended Learning Platform (BLP) for digitalization of agricultural education on 13.09.2023. 

Dr.N.Senthil, Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, TNAU welcomed the gathering. An overview of BLP, importance of AMS and IT initiatives in Higher education in Agriculture was delivered by Dr.R.C.Goyal, IT Consultant, ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi. Felicitation address was given by Dr.Rajendra Parsad, Director, ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi. Dr.Sudeep Marwaha, PI (NAHEP-ICAR-IASRI), explained the importance of BLP.    

Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU launched the BLP and AMS portal. In her presidential address, she highlighted the following:

  • Importance of ICAR BLP and AMS for Higher Education in Agriculture.  
  • In the upcoming years, PG students will have the option of taking courses from the ICAR's Blended Learning Platform (BLP) rather than from MOOC, SWAYAM or NPTEL, which will increase the visibility of the ICAR's education globally. 
  • Through this ICAR supported BLP, enrolment of courses by the students across State Agricultural Universities/Central Universities will happen and the ICARs vision on replacement of 10% of course as online courses could be achieved.
  • TNAU has successfully offered the four undergraduate courses under Blended Learning System across 14 constituent colleges, which is first of its kind among ICAR system.

Technical sessions on BLP and AMS programmes were briefed to the participants.  Finally Dr.N.Venkatesa Palanichamy, Dean (Agriculture), TNAU proposed vote of thanks.
