BIS organised Youth-to-Youth Connect Campaign

Bureau of Indian Standards, Chennai Branch Office conducted a training programme for Youth-to-Youth Connect Campaign on 28.02.2024 to the 380 Students (Manak Mitra) of Sri Sai Ram Engineering College and Sri Sairam Institute of Technology, Chennai. Training programme was conducted by SHRI. U.S.P YADAV, Scientist G/Deputy Director General (South), Southern Regional Office, Bureau of Indian Standards and SHRI. GOWTHAM B J, Scientist D - Joint Director, Chennai Branch Office, Bureau of Indian Standards. 

After the training programme, Flagoff Ceremony was done by SHRI. U.S.P YADAV, Scientist G/Deputy Director General (South), Southern Regional Office, Bureau of Indian Standards at the campus. The university shall be undertaking the Quality Connect Campaign on behalf of BIS. These Manak Mitras will engage comprehensively with the youth and share the information about BIS activities and usage of BIS CARE App to Common Consumers.

BIS appeals all consumers to use BIS CARE App for verifying the authenticity of the ISI Marked, BIS Registration Marked Products and BIS Hallmarked Gold Jewellery.

BIS promotes and creates awareness about standards among various stakeholders viz. Industries, Government, Academia & Consumers through various standards promotion activities. As part of World Consumer right’s day celebration on 15 March, 2024 in order to educate the consumers, BIS has started the Quality Connect Campaign for engaging with the consumers in direct connect mode. The campaign is undertaken through the network of youth volunteers, called the Manak Mitra. Manak Mitra will engage comprehensively with the at least 25 youth and share the information about BIS activities, role of BIS in consumer protection with students, youths. This will empower them to take advantages and benefits of BIS Schemes as applicable for them and utilise the various features, as and when required, with familiarity and ease. Each Manak Mithra will be paid an honorarium of Rs 1500/- for successful completion of this campaign.

Bureau of Indian Standards is a statutory body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. It operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services for the benefit of the industry and in turn aiming at consumer protection.
