The Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT-T) to host 14th Structural Engineering Convention (SEC-2024) from December 12 to 14, 2024. The premier international conference dedicated to advancing Structural Engineering through cutting-edge research, innovative materials, and sustainable practices. This flagship event serves as a global platform to bring together academia, industry leaders, and researchers to address critical challenges in creating resilient and sustainable infrastructures.
Focusing on the theme of "Resilient Structures through Sustainable Construction Materials and Methods," SEC-2024 addresses the challenges posed by extreme environmental conditions such as fire, wind, earthquakes, waves, and other severe loadings. The conference emphasizes computational methods to design and analyse robust structures capable of withstanding these challenges while promoting safer, greener construction practices.
This three-day conference features an impressive lineup of 11 plenary addresses, 45 keynote speeches, and over 400 technical papers presented by renowned experts worldwide. Distinguished professors from top universities in the USA, Canada, and Portugal, leading academicians from IITs, NITs, and scientists from CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre will showcase cutting-edge research and insights.
“This conference tackles global warming concerns caused by construction activities and explores sustainable solutions through green buildings, innovative materials, and advanced design methodologies,” said Dr. G. Aghila, Director, NIT-Tiruchirappalli.
The overwhelming response from participants and collaboration with leading industry partners underscore the event’s significance in bridging academia and industry. Dr. K. Baskar, Conference Chair and Dean (Planning and Development), NIT-Tiruchirappalli, added, “SEC-2024 aims to foster innovative solutions for resilient and sustainable infrastructures, ensuring they withstand the challenges of a rapidly changing world.”
With participation from over 400 delegates, SEC-2024 is poised to be a transformative platform shaping the future of Structural Engineering toward sustainability and resilience.
