While addressing the media, Professor Ram Rajasekaran from Madurai stated, "Mango farmers in Tamil Nadu have suffered heavy losses this year due to the steep fall in prices. During peak production periods, the government should provide training to help farmers enhance the value of their produce. A mango value-addition processing unit should be set up in Krishnagiri, a chilli value-addition unit in Ramanathapuram, and a coconut value-addition unit in Coimbatore. Industry-specific processing units should be established in districts based on the crops grown there, along with proper training for farmers. This approach will help farmers avoid losses during times of overproduction and enable more sustainable farming."
