An awareness camp, focusing on Swachh Bharat, International Girl Child Day, National Unity Day, and various Central Government welfare schemes, was held yesterday, October 15, 2025.
The event took place at the Community Hall, Manur Bus Stop. It was organized by the Chennai Regional Central Bureau of Communication, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Ms. Srilekha Anbalagan, Union Chairman of Manur, inaugurated the camp by lighting the Kuthuvilakku. She also presided over the function and distributed prizes to the winners of the elocution contest.
The program was attended by Mr. T. Balanagendran, IIS, Assistant Director of the Central Bureau of Communication, Chennai. Keynote addresses were delivered by Mr. I. Nagarajan, Assistant Project Officer for MGNREGA, DRDA; Mr. S. S. Pandian, Subedar, 5th Tamilnadu NCC; and Dr. Kavipriya, One Stop Center Administrator.
Ms. Kalaiselvi, Union Vice Chairman; Mr. Chinnadurai, Union Councillor; Mr. Rajeswaran, BDO (BP); and Mr. Srikanth, BDO (VP) offered their felicitations.
An elocution competition had been conducted earlier at Manur Government Arts and Science College. Prizes and certificates for this competition were distributed during today's event. Additionally, prizes were awarded to participants who answered questions based on information shared by the officials during the program.
The event saw participation from the general public and college students. Cultural performances by the Roja Malar Kalaikuzhu were also featured.
The program included a pledge, sapling plantation, and the distribution of pamphlets and hand gloves.
Mr. Gopakumar, Field Publicity Officer, welcomed the guests, and Mr. Velmurugan, Field Publicity Assistant, anchored the program and delivered the vote of thanks.
