A large-scale protest organized by the JACTTO-GEO (Joint Action Council of Teachers’ Organisations – Government Employees’ Organisations) was held yesterday in front of the Erode District Collector’s Office. The demonstration was led by Vijay Manoharan, Saravanan, Mathiyazhagan, Veerakarthik, and Arumugam, representing various government employee unions.
Key Demands Raised:
- Abolition of the New Pension Scheme implemented after April 1, 2003, and reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme.
- Equal pay for all teachers, on par with Central Government employees.
- Regularization of 41 months of service for road workers, based on High Court guidelines.
- Addressing the 30% staff shortage in government departments, which has led to increased workload and delays in resolving public petitions.

Government employees from various taluk offices across Erode district participated in solidarity, including, Erode collector office, Thalavadi Taluk Office, Sathyamangalam Taluk Office, Gobi Taluk Office, Nambiyur Taluk Office, Perundurai Taluk Office, Modakurichi Taluk Office, Kodumudi Taluk Office, Bhavani Taluk Office, Anthiyur Taluk Office.
Hundreds of government staff affiliated with JACTTO-GEO joined the protest, emphasizing their collective call for fair treatment, pension justice, and administrative efficiency.
