Demanding the immediate restoration of the old pension scheme by abolishing the contributory pension plan introduced for government employees who joined service after April 1, 2003, urging the Tamil Nadu government to file a review petition to protect teachers from the threats arising out of the Supreme Court’s verdict on teacher eligibility tests, insisting on equal pay for postgraduate teachers, headmasters of high and higher secondary schools, and physical education directors in line with central government scales, calling for urgent action to fill more than thirty percent of vacant posts across various departments, and pressing for the regularization of the forty-one month dismissal period of road workers as per the High Court’s directive, the members of the JACTTO-GEO organization staged a hunger strike coordinated by district conveners Vijayamanoharan, Saravanan, Veera Karthik, Mathiyazhagan, and Arumugam, during which Professor Gandhirajan of the University Teachers’ Association delivered a special address emphasizing that the government must immediately fulfill all ten demands without delay.
