As per direction from the Deputy Director General, SAI, Fit India Division, Head Office New Delhi nationwide Sunday on Cycling campaign, the Sports Authority of India RC Trivandrum, through SAI STC Chennai, organized cycling rally in Chennai in collaboration with the Public Sector undertakings. (Power Grid Corporation of India LTD and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation LTD).
The "Fit India Sundays on Cycle" is a weekly nationwide campaign under the Fit India Movement, often featuring participation from Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), ministry officials, and sporting bodies to promote health, reduce fuel consumption, and foster a greener environment. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The cycling rally was conducted at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium Chennai with the participation of around 40 cyclists, including officials from the Power Grid Corporation of India LTD, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation LTD and Coaches & staff of SAI STC Chennai. The event was formally inaugurated by Mr. S. Shankar, Secretary and B. Bhargav, Manager HR From HPCL & Mr.M.M.Jeyaseelan, General Manager Power Grid Corporation Chennai Branch.
The event was conducted in a disciplined and enthusiastic manner, reflecting the spirit of the Sunday on Cycling campaign. The initiative received positive participation and support.
Around total number of 40 cyclists participated in the Sundays on Cycle. Mrs. Rhoda Franklin Chief Coach Athletics, gave vote of thanks to the participants.
