A Voter awareness campaign was launched at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore on Saturday. Dr. J. Ramalingam, Dean, Centre for Students Welfare flagged off to promote 100 per cent voting in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections 2026. Dr. P. Vetrivelkalai, University NSS Coordinator, Dr. K. Sivakumar, Dr.K.Chandrakumar Dr. P. Malathi NSS officers, NSS volunteers, faculty members, and staff participated in the event.
During the programme, Dr. J. Ramalingam addressed first-time voters and emphasized the importance of voting as a rcivic duty. He highlighted that voting is fundamental right of every citizen and is essential for the development of a democratic society. As part of the awareness drive, students engaged in promotional activities by displaying placard, flex and banner to stress the significance of voting, Slogans such as 100% voting turnout, vote for the future, vote for a better India, your vote, your voice were chanted. The rally traversed the Students Hostels, Staff quarters, various departments on campus before returning to the starting point, effectively spreading the message of compulsory voting among the public.
More than 1,000 students from diverse disciplines, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, Agri-Business Development, and Bioinformatics participated in the rally, raising awareness about their rights and responsibilities in fostering a democratic nation.
