Erode Collector inspects development works in Modakkurichi block

In Erode district, the District Collector S. Kandasamy, visited and inspected the development works being carried out in the areas under the Modakkurichi Panchayat Union, including Arasur, Pathiyampalayam, Vadugapatti, and Injamballi, on June 12, 2026.


During the inspection, the Collector reviewed the Arasur town panchayat office. He examined official records maintained in the office, employee attendance registers, details of government scheme works being implemented by the town panchayat, auction records, public notices, and tax collection details. He also inspected the nursery maintained within the office campus, checking the maintenance of saplings and irrigation facilities.


At Pathiyampalayam in Arasur, he inspected a desilted lake and instructed officials to plant tree saplings around the lake area and to promote greenery by growing grass and shrubs.


He also inspected the mid-day meal scheme implementation at CSI-funded primary school, reviewing details of students benefiting from the scheme, the food menu, taste and quality of food, as well as basic infrastructure in the school. He further assessed the children’s learning levels.


The Collector also visited the Government Primary Health Centre at Arasur, where he reviewed record maintenance, medicine stock availability, toilet and bed facilities, and the treatment provided to patients.


He inspected the construction of a weekly market building being built under an infrastructure development scheme in Arasur town panchayat at an estimated cost of ₹48 lakh, and also reviewed basic amenities such as sanitation and drinking water facilities.


Further, he examined measures to construct a compound wall for the compost park operating under the solid waste management project in Vadugapatti.


He then inspected ongoing works in Vadugapatti and Injamballi related to Sri Lankan Tamil Rehabilitation Camps, including the construction of roofing for 176 houses at a cost of ₹12.10 crore and painting works for 144 houses at a cost of ₹9.90 crore. In total, he reviewed 320 housing units worth ₹22 crore, assessing construction progress, quality of materials, and other pending works.


In Injamballi, he interacted with members of women self-help groups who were preparing traditional pottery and handicrafts using clay processed through traditional methods.


Officials present during the inspection included the Modakkurichi Block Development Officer Sumithra, Arasur Town Panchayat Executive Officer Manikandan, Panchayat President Vijayakumar, Vadugapatti Town Panchayat Executive Officer Rahim Khan, and Assistant Executive Engineer Ganesh, along with other departmental officials.
