Dr. S.K.M. Meillanandan, President of the World Samudaya Seva Sangam, has appealed to the Chief Minister to make yoga training compulsory in schools at least once a week.

Speaking at the World Yoga Day celebrations held at V.E.T. Arts and Science College, he said that today’s society is facing many challenges and that yoga and meditation are the best ways to establish peace. He emphasized that yoga does not belong to any particular religion and pointed out that Christians also practice it. He recalled that schools once had yoga and meditation classes, but in recent years there has been a decline. Therefore, he announced that a request will be made to the Chief Minister to ensure that students in all schools receive yoga and meditation training at least one period per week.

The event was attended by College Secretary Chandrasekar, Erode Arts College President Rajamanickam, Vice President Jegadeesan, and Principal Dr. Parvathi. A large number of students and participants joined the program and performed yoga exercises.
