The Department of Physical Education of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, in association with the Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College Alumni Association, organized a district-level Kabaddi tournament for school boys and girls on July 2, 2026.
The event was presided over by College Principal Dr. Ramasubbaiah. The tournament was inaugurated by College Chairman Vijayaraghavan, Honorary Chairman Engineer Rajagopal, Secretary Engineer Sridhar, and Treasurer Azhwarsamy.
Greetings were delivered by Self-Financing Wing Director Prabhu, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Azhagesan, and Dean of Student Welfare Extension Activities Silambarasan.
The chief guest, Muralidharan, President of the Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College Alumni Association and an alumnus of the college, addressed the gathering and distributed prizes to the winning teams.
Boys' Category Winners
A total of 18 schools participated in the boys' competition.
First Prize: CEOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Melur
Second Prize: Muthuthevar Mukkulathor Higher Secondary School, Thirunagar
Third Prize: Government Higher Secondary School, Vallalapatti
Fourth Prize: Ilango Corporation Higher Secondary School
Girls' Category Winners
A total of 14 schools took part in the girls' competition.
First Prize: Kasturibai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, Madurai
Second Prize: Kendriya Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Thiruparankundram
Third Prize: Sri Meenakshi Girls Higher Secondary School, Teppakulam
Fourth Prize: Arulmigu Andavar Subramaniaswamy Girls Higher Secondary School, Thiruparankundram
The winning teams were awarded cash prizes of ₹5,000, ₹4,000, ₹3,000, and ₹2,000, along with trophies and medals.
Earlier, Director of Physical Education Dr. Raghavan welcomed the gathering, while Deputy Director of Physical Education Govindammal delivered the vote of thanks. The event arrangements were coordinated by the members of the college's Physical Education and Sports Committee.
