The 33rd Installation Ceremony of the new office-bearers of the Madurai Gem Lions Club, affiliated to Lions Clubs International, District 3242-B, was held with great enthusiasm at the Union Club, Madurai.
The installation ceremony was presided over by Past District Governor Lion T. Thanikodi, who administered the oath of office to the newly elected office-bearers for the 2026–2027 Lions Year and extended his felicitations. District Governor Lion S. Saravana Sankar attended the function as the Chief Guest and conveyed his best wishes to the new team.
Lion K. Ramakrishnan assumed office as President, Lion R. Dhanusuram as Secretary, and Lion K. Rajan Babu as Treasurer.
Among the newly installed office-bearers, Dr. M. Abdul Kadir, Dean (Science & Humanities) of Sethu Institute of Technology and Former Principal of MSS Wakf Board College, assumed charge as the First Vice President of the Club. Lion N. Gunasekaran took charge as Second Vice President, Lion V. Chockalingam as Club Coordinator, Lion K. Muthukrishnan as Leadership Coordinator, Lion V. Jeyaraj as Service Activities Coordinator, Lion S. Devadas as Membership Coordinator, besides several other members who assumed various leadership responsibilities.
Speaking after assuming office, Dr. M. Abdul Kadir stated that We are committed to strengthening the noble service legacy of Lions Clubs by implementing meaningful community service initiatives focusing on education, healthcare, environmental protection, and youth empowerment for the benefit of society.
Earlier, the newly installed President Lion K. Ramakrishnan, Secretary Lion R. Dhanusuram, and Treasurer Lion K. Rajan Babu outlined the Club's action plan for the year. They announced that the Club would undertake a wide range of community welfare programmes, including free medical camps for the underprivileged, educational assistance to deserving students, environmental protection initiatives, tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, eye screening camps, youth skill development programmes, and several other public service activities.
The ceremony was attended by Past District Governors, District Office-Bearers, Presidents and Secretaries of various Lions Clubs, Lions members, social activists, and distinguished invitees, who extended their greetings and best wishes to the newly installed team.
The newly elected office-bearers reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the Lions' ideals of friendship, humanitarian service, and selfless community welfare, and pledged to work with dedication for the betterment of society.
