A grand Onam celebration was held at RVS College of Arts and Science in Sulur, Coimbatore, marking the traditional festival of Onam with great enthusiasm.
The celebration was organized on behalf of the RVS Management, with students, faculty members and staff participating enthusiastically.
Highlighting the cultural significance and traditions of Onam, students arrived in traditional attire and took part in various celebrations. An attractive Athapookalam, made with colourful flowers, was created on the college campus.
The celebrations continued with traditional dance performances and various cultural programmes presented by the students.
Adding further grandeur to the festivities, a Mega Chendamelam and Kavadiyattam were also performed. The energetic performances created a vibrant festive atmosphere across the college campus and attracted enthusiastic participation from students and staff.
Another major highlight of the celebration was a traditional Onam feast featuring 25 varieties of food. The traditional dishes were served on banana leaves, with students, faculty members and staff coming together to enjoy the feast.
The participation of students from different states and cultural backgrounds made the celebration a symbol of unity, brotherhood and cultural diversity.
Following the Onam celebrations, a press meet was also held on the college campus.
Mr. Samaneu Satheesh, Director – Media and Communications, RVS Group of Institutions; Dr. Ravindranath, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, RVS College of Arts and Science; along with the college students, participated in the press meet and shared the highlights and objectives of the Onam celebration.
With the Athapookalam, cultural programmes, Mega Chendamelam, Kavadiyattam and a grand 25-dish traditional feast, the Onam celebration at RVS College of Arts and Science concluded on a joyful and festive note.
