As the Men’s T20 World Cup begins across India and Sri Lanka, Skyscanner data shows a sharp rise in flight searches as Indian fans plan travel around match schedules. With India entering the tournament as defending champions under captain Suryakumar Yadav, searches to host cities climbed steadily from November and peaked in January, reflecting how cricket is influencing travel decisions across domestic and international routes.

Suryakumar Yadav said the energy of travelling fans plays a huge role in the team’s spirit, recalling the roar of supporters during the 2024 final. He added that as matches span seven cities starting from his home ground Wankhede, he is confident fans will once again travel to be part of the stadium atmosphere throughout the tournament.

Neel Ghose, Destination and Travel Trends Expert at Skyscanner India, said fans are aligning trips with key fixtures, including cross-border travel to Colombo and Pallekele. He noted that major matches like India vs Pakistan on 15 February appear to be driving early travel planning, showing how large sporting events are shaping both the timing and purpose of travel for Indian fans.
