CGHS Chennai has won the inaugural South Zone Intercity Cricket Tournament title for CGHS teams held at Thiruvananthapuram. In the final CGHS Chennai defeated CGHS Bengaluru by 3 wickets.
The inaugural season brought together three CGHS teams CGHS Thiruvananthapuram, CGHS Chennai and CGHS Bengaluru for an exciting two-day cricketing extravaganza. The tournament witnessed competitive matches, outstanding individual performances and tremendous support from CGHS employees.
In a historic achievement, CGHS Chennai led by Dr Suriya Prakash emerged as the Champions of Season 1, claiming the title after an impressive campaign. Their consistent team performance and fighting spirit helped them lift the coveted championship trophy. Khuman Singh of CGHS Chennai won the player of the match award.
Dr. Sadanandan C. S., Associate Professor and Principal (In-Charge), Sports Authority of India's Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (SAI LNCPE), Thiruvananthapuram, presented the championship trophy to the victorious CGHS Chennai team.
The tournament was not merely a sporting competition but also a celebration of team spirit, friendship, unity and camaraderie among CGHS employees across the South Zone. The enthusiastic participation of employees, families and supporters added colour and energy to the two-day event.
The first edition has now created a new chapter in the sporting history of CGHS, with CGHS Chennai becoming the first-ever champions..The grand success of Season 1 has also set the stage for an even bigger and more exciting edition of the CGHS South Zone Intercity Cricket Tournament in the years ahead.
Built around the spirit of “One Zone. Three Cities. One Champion.”, the tournament successfully brought together CGHS teams from across the South Zone on a common sporting platform.
