The company said the new models are designed to address the growing demand among urban customers for convenient mobility, particularly in traffic conditions, while maintaining fuel efficiency. The automatic S-CNG Dzire delivers a fuel efficiency of 36.47 km/kg, making it, according to the company, India’s most fuel-efficient sedan#.
The Swift, Dzire and Baleno automatic S-CNG models are powered by Maruti Suzuki’s Advanced Z12E 1.2-litre engine, equipped with Dual Variable Valve Timing (Dual VVT) and Idle Start Stop (ISS) technology. The engine is paired with Maruti Suzuki’s five-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission, commonly known as Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The transmission provides automatic gear shifts, allowing drivers to navigate congested roads without the need for manual gear changes. It also offers the option of manual gear changes without requiring the use of a clutch pedal.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company was responding to evolving customer expectations and the increasing preference for automatic vehicles that offer fuel efficiency and performance.
Maruti Suzuki said demand for its S-CNG vehicles has been increasing, with sales registering a 58% rise in the first quarter of the year compared with the same period last year. In July, the company recorded its highest-ever monthly S-CNG sales of 83,000 units.
The company expects the new automatic S-CNG models to further expand the adoption of cleaner mobility options across passenger vehicle segments.
